I didn't always want to be a virtual assistant.
Growing up, I always wanted to be an elementary school teacher, and I spent the first several years of my career pursuing and obtaining that goal. I earned my Master of Arts degree in education, taught second and third grade for six years at a Title I school in Northern Virginia, and even worked with kindergarteners at a gifted school outside of Denver.
Once our son was born, my goals changed and I yearned for a work-from-home opportunity that also allowed me to tap in to my existing skills as an educator. A friend told me about VA work and the rest is history!
I quickly fell in love with my new career as a virtual assistant.
When I first launched my business over six years ago, I had no earthly idea what I was doing, but I did it anyway. I certainly had enough existing skills in my former educator toolbox to get started, and I was determined to make my business a success.
My first client was a solopreneur who sold clothing online. It was a learning experience, for sure! Yet the more clients I supported, the more I learned, and the more services I was able to offer. I was motivated by seeing my clients' businesses grow and having a role in that growth was the cherry on top.
Over the years, I've continued to provide support for entrepreneurs in a number of industries: events, business and life coaching, health and wellness, photography, and education. I've worked with solopreneurs, small businesses with only a few team members, and even a growing therapy practice with over forty employees.
While each business I've supported has been a bit different, the entrepreneurs I've worked with over the years have had one very important thing in common: they've inspired me.
